2017No BS! Brass Band w/ Los Bad Hombres
OctoberDoors 8pm, Show 9pm - $13adv / $15
Founders Reggie Pace and Lance Koehler have cast this 11-piece band in which nearly every member has had conservatory training, holding various degrees in music. In putting together the compositions and arrangements, the “b.s.” has been stripped to give the audience something solid, unique, organic, real, and powerful. They have the look of New Orleans with the raw sound all their own -- music is a true definition of the “Richmond sound.”
English and in Spanish. Los Bad Hombres’ urge to share positive messages, and
their upbeat sound, landed them a gig on them Solar Stage at Bonnaroo in 2017.
Stationed in Asheville, NC. Los Bad Hombres, and its three members,
often lend their talents to support charitable organizations and events that aim to
strengthen the community. As dedicated as this group is to having positive equitable impact, the best way to describe their music is FUN! As for a genre, try “Global Folk Hop.”
The percussionist Jessie Lehmann is steeped in west African drumming. Victor Palomino is originally from Colombia, and plays non-traditional Latin rhythms. Joseph Adams describes his style to be a mix of Americana and Hip Hop. He plays ukelele. All three members sing. Together, their unique style, and obvious love of performing together, creates a wonderful sound with dynamic presence.
