Guitarist/lyricist/singer Craig Comeau began playing music in Boston with his art punk band “Snack World.”
He later formed “The Lords of Chicken Hill” in Asheville and was dubbed “art punk guru” by local weekly Mountain Xpress.
Drummer/singer Chris Zweifel, a New Orleans native, has performed with “Hometown,” “The Shit Canners,” and “Kim Basinger’s Great Wide Open.” After relocating to Asheville, he was a member of “Mister Hurl,“ “The Gin Fits,” “Smoke Break,” and “The Lords of Chicken Hill.”
Drawing comparisons to the Flying Nun school of art-damaged guitar pop, classic British post-punk and 90s-era indie rock, the band mixes the lost classics and obscurities of their record collections with ease, helping to carry the torch for smart guitar pop in the late 2010s. A second LP is expected for release later in 2017.
From drug-addled stories of summer love to rock and roll anthems dedicated to plants, the song styles range from clandestine poetry to shout-out, sing-a-long choruses. Their output spans Rock and Roll, Blues, Psychedelic Garage, Punk, Soul, and Power Pop. Influences include Chuck Berry, The Velvet Underground, T. Rex, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Elliott Smith, Swervedriver, The Beatles, Oasis, Pixies, Black Lips, Ramones and early Green Day.
